Joshua Allmen is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. As a Senior Consulting Actuary and Treasurer of Rael & Letson, Josh brings more than 25 years of actuarial experience to his clients. In addition to general retirement consulting, his expertise includes innovative plan designs such as hybrid plans and pension enhancement options, collaborating with government agencies on regulations and private letter rulings, and pioneering actuarial technology and methodology for projection, stochastic and retirement adequacy modeling and withdrawal liability. He has played a leading role in establishing new variable defined benefit pension plans and presents to fellow actuaries and industry professionals. Josh also volunteers on the American Academy of Actuaries’ select Multiemployer Plans Committee, working with regulators to help shape the rules governing multiemployer plans.

Before joining Rael & Letson in 2008, he worked in the pension practice of an international employee benefits consulting firm and as an actuary for a nationwide insurance company, where he researched improvements to actuarial and business processes. He holds a B.A. in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, where he served as a student instructor, established its first actuarial credentialing courses and was president of the Cal Actuarial League.
