BARGAINING
ASSISTANCE:
An Example of the Rael & Letson Approach |
| |
|
Issue:
As part of the bargaining process, benefit improvements were suggested.
The amount of additional contributions needed to fund these improvements
was contested. |
| |
|
Process:
A base line cash flow projection was prepared covering the period of time
requested by the parties. Both sides asked for several benefit and eligibility
scenarios. Rael & Letson determined the costs or savings for the changes
and then applied them to the base line cash flow projection to determine
their impact. With these results, the parties met with their respective
stakeholders and discussed this important part of their collective bargaining
agreement. |
| |
|
Outcome:
Rael & Letson helped devise compromises that improved plan benefits while
staying within contribution guidelines. The Board has the assurance that
the cost estimates and projections have been done accurately and impartially.
