PLAN
DESIGN:
An Example of the Rael & Letson Approach |
| |
|
Issue:
The Board of Trustees has been asked to expand the coverage of the Plan
by signing up new employers. They asked Rael & Letson which changes in the
design of the Plan could make it more attractive to new groups. |
| |
|
Process:
Rael & Letson first talked with the Board about the types of new groups
being sought - young? long service? seasonal workers? Then an analysis of
each kind of group was made and the effects on its admission to the Plan
was studied. |
| |
|
Outcome:
Rael & Letson offered ways of changing the Plan design that would be favorable
to each kind of potential new employer. The costs of such changes on the
existing plan were also estimated. The Board was able to move forward with
its plans to enroll new employers in the plan. |
